Changes I Would Make To Education

This is such a loaded question...

If I could make one change to education it would be to provide more embedded time for exploration and wonder. I fear that we are raising a generation of students who do not have the skills to dig deep into a problem and find a solution.

There are many factors that stifle this opportunity to grow through questioning but the most prominent is the amount of time spent standardize testing. To be clear, I am a believer in accountability. The challenge should be in finding ways to assess the knowledge and growth of our students to make it clear that we are truly educating our students without all of the high stakes testing.

This is my hope for public education.
